Jocelyn’s Approach to Yoga

One of Jocelyn’s gifts as a yoga teacher is providing a calm, compassionate space for students to show up authentically, and to feel safe and supported as they learn and grow.  Her classes focus largely on the breath, and how it guides us from moment to moment, pose to pose, and through each transition.  When breath and movement are woven together, it creates a powerful moving meditation.  Jocelyn will encourage you to slow down and, in doing so, invite intention and awareness to each movement so that your practice may unfold fluidly and organically, without force or strive.  This level of attentiveness, or mindfulness, allows you to meet yourself where you are each day—on and off the mat—with self-compassion, which opens the door for deeper self-acceptance and self-love.

Jocelyn’s classes are designed with thoughtful sequencing, which builds from the ground up to progressively open the body in preparation for deep release and rest.  Whether you are moving or holding a posture for time, she will remind you to be conscious of the quality of your breath as an indication of how you are feeling so that you are able to find the full benefit of each pose as it is serving you in the Now.  Through this practice of self-awareness and embodiment, you become more deeply connected to your highest self, where you are empowered to believe in, accept, and love ALL of YOU.

One-on-one yoga sessions offer a transformative opportunity to deepen your mind-body connection and evolve your practice.  Each class is tailored to meet your individual needs, ensuring you safely receive the full benefit of each pose.  Jocelyn creates a safe environment for you to be yourself, have fun, and ask questions.  She will guide you and assist you so that you fully understand how your body is working and why.  She will teach you how to listen, trust, and honor yourSelf so that you become your own best teacher.  Her goal is to ensure that you leave feeling nourished and empowered by your practice!  


group classes

Jocelyn's group classes vary in style, experience, and length.  Her Vinyasa flow style of asana emphasizes the breath, as movements are woven together in a slow, mindful sequence.  She also offers Gentle Yoga, which consists of less rigorous movement and gentle stretches that are easier on the body. You can drop into one of her local classes (offered regularly in Saratoga Springs, NY) or attend a virtual class (coming soon!)

For those who prefer to bring the benefits of yoga to their workplace environment, Jocelyn has experience guiding groups through a short midday or "happy hour" practice.  These group classes are tailored specifically for your group's needs, ranging from beginner level to advanced.  Classes are designed to be 30-45 minutes in length, giving practitioners enough time to drop in, move, stretch, and clear their minds, allowing for a more productive workday.  Yoga in the workplace is shown to improve motivation, focus, productivity, communication, individual well-being, and the overall attitude of the work environment.
